The Basics

Kloak & Daggurrs: Klandestine is a game of hidden allegiances, strategic deception, and calculated betrayal. Each player secretly belongs to one of thirteen factions, each with unique abilities and win conditions.

Objective

Be the last faction standing, or fulfill your faction's secret victory condition before the others catch on.

What You Need

Table setup example

Game Setup

  1. Shuffle the deck thoroughly.
  2. Each player draws 5 cards.
  3. Each player secretly draws 1 faction card and keeps it hidden.
  4. Place the remaining deck in the center.
  5. Choose a starting player randomly.

Faction Setup

Your faction determines your special ability and your secret win condition. Never reveal your faction unless a card effect forces you to.

Turn Structure

Each turn consists of three phases:

1. Draw Phase

Draw 2 cards from the deck. If the deck is empty, shuffle the discard pile.

2. Action Phase

Play up to 2 cards from your hand. Cards can be:

3. End Phase

Max hand size is 7. Discard down if needed. Pass turn clockwise.

Card Types

Common Cards

Basic actions: Draw, Discard, Block. The foundation of every hand.

Uncommon Cards

Utility effects: Peek at a Kloak, force a discard, swap hands.

Rare Cards

Powerful one-time effects: Steal a Kloak, reveal a faction, nullify an action.

Mythic Cards

Game-changing abilities: Reset the board, force all players to reveal, swap factions.

Gold Cards

Faction-specific ultimates. Only usable if you control the matching faction. Devastating when played correctly.

Combat & Kloaks

When a player attacks another, the defender may flip a face-down Kloak card. The Kloak's hidden effect resolves immediately — this could block the attack, redirect it, or trigger a trap.

Resolving Kloaks

  1. Attacker declares target.
  2. Defender chooses to flip 0, 1, or 2 Kloaks.
  3. Kloak effects resolve in order played.
  4. If attack still valid, damage is dealt.
  5. Flipped Kloaks go to discard.

Bluffing

You can play any card face-down as a Kloak — even a Common. The threat is often more powerful than the card itself.

Cross-Game Usage

K&D cards are designed to be modular. Use them as:

Magic: The Gathering — Commander Tokens

Gold cards make excellent custom commander representations. Their faction abilities map well to commander color identities.

D&D — Spell Cards & NPC Factions

Use the thirteen factions as rival guilds in your campaign. Card effects translate directly to encounter abilities.

Board Games — Event Deck

Shuffle K&D cards into any game's event deck. The rarity system balances randomness.
